External Drive for Quartz Analog Watches
The Cyclonic enables the watchmaker to check all the
mechanical functions of a quartz movement both quickly
and thoroughly. The supplementary test facilities for
displaying the motor drive pulse and checking the battery
state complete a comprehensive functional investigation
on the watch.
Solidifi ed oil and dirt can be released from the bearings by
rotating the gear train rapidly. This usually enables a blocked
movement to be brought back into operation again which
is often the only possibility to repair a watch that cannot be
dismantled.

Technical Data

Measuring principle
The CYCLONIC generates a rotating magnetic fi eld with
adjustable intensity and rotational speed in the vicinity of
the watch support. When an analogue quartz watch
movement is placed within this rotating fi eld, the stepping
motor rotor is also excited into rotation. This enables the
gear train to be driven at high speed without having to
physically intervene in the watch mechanism itself. In
contrast to similar testing equipment which generates
only an oscillating fi eld instead of a rotating one, the
positioning of the watch movement is uncritical with the
CYCLONIC test system.

Watch Drive
Rotating magnetic fi eld.
Rotation speed: Adjustable in 15 steps from 5 - 200 rps.
Intensity: Adjustable in 15 steps from 10 - 50mT.

Test Functions
–– Motor pulse display
Sensor detects the magnetic fi eld from the stepping
motor. Indication by LED which blinks in synchronism
with the motor pulses.
–– Battery Test
Battery test: tests both silver oxide and lithium
batteries.
Good/poor indication by means of LED’s.
